Flame retardant, a functional additive that imparts flame retardancy to flammable polymers, mainly designed for flame retardant of polymer materials; there are many types of flame retardants, which are classified into additive flame retardants and reactions according to the method of use.

The additive type flame retardant is added to the polymer by a mechanical mixing method to make the polymer flame retardant. Currently, the added flame retardant are mainly organic flame retardant,inorganic flame retardant, halogen flame retardant (organochlorine and organic bromide) and non-halogen. Organic flame retardant is represented by bromine, phosphorus and nitrogen, nitrogen and red phosphorus and compounds. The inorganic kinds are mainly antimony trioxide, magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide and silicon.


Flame Retardant Wastewater Characteristics

1) Brominated Flame Retardant

The main high salt water produced by the bromine-based flame retardant process is sodium chloride salt. The raw water quality of the bromine-based flame retardant wastewater is as follows:

Raw water PH: 7-8; Density 1.020g/ml; COD: 19,000mg/L; Salinity: 2.8%; Electrical Conductivity: 57.95ms/cm; TDS: 29.05g / L; Chloride Ion: 11.7g / L; Hardness: 32mg / L (calculated as calcium ion);

The hardness of raw water is low.However, the organic matter quantity is high. Therefore, the influence of organic matter enrichment on the evaporator needs to be considered in the evaporation process.


2)Aluminum Flame Retardant

The main salt of aluminum-based flame retardant production wastewater is sodium sulfate, which contains a small amount of zinc borate. Zinc borate affects the crystallization of sodium sulfate during evaporation, resulting in a smaller crystal form. The centrifuge fan leaks heavily in the later stage.In this case,the quantity of boric acid need to be controlled in the system so as to make sure the stable operation of the salt production system.


Flame Retardant Wastewater Evaporation Treatment Process

For the bromine-based flame retardant, the pH adjustment + flocculation precipitation + MVR evaporation crystallization + single-effect evaporation treatment process are fully combined.Considering the actual situation that the wastewater effluent PH is low and the flocculation is regulated in the PH process,the treatment process should be adjusted accordingly.

For the aluminum-based flame retardant, we adopt the process of preheating system + MVR evaporation crystallization + solidification system treatment.This is to consider the influence of zinc borate on the formation of sodium sulfate crystal.
